Know Your Rights: Protesting in Texas

Details
Policy experts at the ACLU of Texas will explain how the First Amendment protects the right to protest, which state laws impact speech rights in public spaces, and what to do if approached by law enforcement.
Ayania Hicks is an engagement associate at the ACLU of Texas. She was introduced to community organizing as a reproductive justice intern at Power U: Center for Social Change in Miami, Florida. There, she witnessed the transformative power of youth-led organizing, political education, and civic engagement. Following her time at Power U, Ayania spent two years as a public-school English teacher, where she saw firsthand the escalating challenges to public education and free speech. These experiences ignited her commitment to social justice.
This is a virtual meeting. A Zoom link will be sent to everyone who RSVPs.
