Seeds Before Creeds Stream Ecology Study

Details
Come join volunteers who will be completing a macro-invertebrate follow-up study of the Trotters Branch stream at Phil Rizzuto Park in Elizabeth. You will be part of teams turning over rocks in the stream and collecting specimens.
Like the proverbial canary in the coal mine, macro-invertebrate studies help to determine the health of a stream and are predictors of the riparian ecology. Finding species less tolerant to pollution tells us about the stream’s habitat and informs future restoration efforts. Rubber boots, water nets, and lunch will be provided.
People of all ages are invited to participate. The group will be meeting at the large free parking lot within the park at 11 am and we will be finishing by 1 pm. A public restroom is available.
Please try to arrive a little before 11 am to collect gear.
What to bring: Water bottles, gloves (if you have them), comfortable hiking clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We will gather for lunch afterwards for those interested.
Where: Phil Rizzuto Park, 597 Morris Ave, Elizabeth, NJ. Call Curt Collier at 914-648-0009 if you need additional driving information.
RSVP to [curt@ethicalfocus.org](mailto:curt@ethicalfocus.org) if you plan to attend the event or for more information.
