Megan R. King, Collections Manager at Rutgers Chrysler Herbarium, will provide an introduction to herbaria, what they are, their intended purposes, and the value they hold today.

Herbarium collections have been around for hundreds of years, yet the methods of collecting plants have changed very little. With the advancements in science and technology, the value of herbaria steadily increases, providing data for research related to climate change, biodiversity, evolution, and conservation.

Learn not only what an herbarium is, but how plants are pressed and preserved, how data is shared globally, and opportunities to get involved and for visit inga local herbarium, such as the Chrysler Herbarium at Rutgers University.
