Jared Alexander has spent the past fifteen years in facilities management, where caring for buildings has taught him unexpected lessons about caring for people.

Raised in the small farming community of Roselawn, Indiana, Jared believes the most meaningful work often happens behind the scenes through quiet acts of service, thoughtful systems, and genuine relationships. He and his wife, Claire, returned to St. Louis to be closer to family, where they are now raising their daughter, Nora, alongside their mini–Australian shepherd, Winnie. Jared has been a member of the Ethical Society of St. Louis for nearly a year, where he sings with the Justice Choir and serves on the Building and Grounds Team. He was first drawn to the Society while supporting Claire but found himself inspired by its Humanist vision of bringing out the best in ourselves and one another. When he's not at work, Jared enjoys cooking for friends and family, hunting for treasures in thrift stores, collecting vinyl records, and wondering what his daughter will discover next.

You may know Claire Alexander as the Ethical Society's executive director of community experience, but she originally fell in love with nonprofit leadership as a choir director. A professional musician and music educator, Claire led a variety of vocal music programs while performing as a vocalist, percussionist, keyboardist, guitarist, and more. Her leadership in community music spaces sparked a passion for nonprofit administration, strategic planning, and building experiences that bring people together. After her bachelor's degree in music education, she earned a master's degree in nonprofit leadership and is currently completing her doctorate in curriculum and instruction. Claire is delighted to share music this morning alongside her husband, Jared, while their little Nora Jean plays in the Nursery with her Sunday buddies.
