More Than Words: A Poetry Open Mic with Freedapoet
Details
Poetry has the power to connect us, challenge our perspectives, and give voice to our shared humanity. Join us for a special open mic Forum exploring how creative expression reflects our Ethical values of empathy, respect, and human connection. Whether you have a poem to share or simply want to listen, all are welcome!
Our host, Sidney McGhee (he/him), known as Freedapoet, will emcee the open mic, perform some of his own poetry, and introduce us to the work of Damned Good People (DGP).
A St. Louis-born spoken word artist, educator, and community leader, Sidney's work centers on equity, healing, and human connection. He serves as Chapter Director of Damned Good People, a nonprofit based in the Grove that fosters intentional community and local social impact. He is also the founder of DFT Breathe (Don't Forget to Breathe), an initiative dedicated to making mental health support and healing more accessible, particularly for men of color.
Come share your voice, experience the creativity of others, and celebrate the ways our words can bring us closer together.
