Why should we care about ethics at all? Is morality something we genuinely need, or just a social construct we've inherited?

This meeting will be a time to explore the concept of ethics and morality in general. This should be a time for us to really evaluate our beliefs and take a deeper look into the way we live our lives.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. Do you care about ethics? Why?
2. Do you think most people actually follow a moral code, or just act on habit and emotion?
3. Have your ethical views changed over time?
4. Where do your own ethical beliefs come from?
5. Do you think your ethics are consistent?
6. Do you consciously try to live ethically, or does it happen naturally?
7. Do people need ethics, or just laws and consequences?
8. Why should someone act ethically if it comes at a personal cost?
9. Is being ethical always worth it?
10. Can ethics be justified through reason, or is it ultimately subjective?
11. What makes an ethical belief valid or invalid?
12. Do you think it is possible to live a fully ethical life?

LOCATION:
We will be meeting at 24h Caffeine Corner in Shinchon.
The address says "2층," or "second floor," but that's because the first floor of the cafe is actually the 2nd floor of the building. We will be meeting on the 4th floor if space is available there. Also, please be sure you are at the right cafe. This is 24h Caffeine Corner. There are other cafes with "24" in their names that are nearby.
Otherwise, if you are having trouble finding the location, please send me a message.
This meetup is not affiliated with the cafe, but let's be sure to support the establishment by ordering a drink or a snack.
