Solo Aging in PRIDE
Details
Solo Aging in PRIDE is for LGBTQ+ folks that are aging and making decisions about their future independently. This group will be held every third Wednesday of each month from 12 PM - 1:30 PM on Zoom.
What to Expect:
This group is a peer support group where individuals who have similar life experiences or challenges come together to share their stories and build community. Peer support is a form of mental health support that is non-professional but grounded in empathy, understanding, and compassion. This group will offer:
- A supportive community where solo agers can share their stories and experiences.
- Resources and guidance to help navigate specific challenges that comes with solo aging.
- Ethos will periodically bring in professionals from different agencies to provide insight into resources for aging.
- Opportunities to connect in a non-judgmental setting while learning from peers.
Why Join?
Statistics show that 78% of solo agers are concerned about losing their independence; 60% about not being able to stay in their current home; 51% about being moved somewhere against their will; and 50% about needing help with daily activities. Building confidence in solo aging comes from proactive planning, building a robust support network, and cultivating self-reliance which can all be accomplished within this group.
