The COALA DAO Model Law - a legal framework for DAOs
Details
Most existing DAOs operate in a space of alegality - not explicitly legal, but not illegal either. This can seem appealing when the alternative is the regulatory overhead of corporate law. Living alegally can be risky, however. The law does not like a vacuum, and the ways it could apply may not be friendly to DAOs. The COALA DAO Model Law is a proposed legal framework that could be adopted by jurisdictions to provide DAOs with legal personality and their members with limited liability, all without requiring the DAO to register with a state body. We'll discuss how the law could apply to DAOs today and how the Model Law could help.
