Revitalize Yourself with Dances of Universal Peace

This Friday's December 19th dance will be led by Munajat, from Olympia, Wa. (For those of you who attended the Spring regional Dance retreat outside of Eugene, Munajat was one of the main leaders.) She says, “The Winter Solstice is my favorite holiday; I consider it a time to plant seeds internally that will come to fruition later in the year. We will be supported in this by the wisdom of Rumi, whose “wedding day” (anniversary of death) is Dec 17; by the Jewish tradition as we prepare for Hanukkah; by the focus on Jesus by both Christian and Islamic traditions; and by the earth-based Celtic tradition. Join me for a rich evening! Bring a dark blanket or shawl for a short meditation." The last dance of the evening will be videotaped as a reference for dance leaders in the DUP online dance library. Those not wanting to have their image on a video on YouTube, will have a place to sit during that dance as not to appear in the video.

Bring yourself into an evening of spiritually uplifting dances gathered from universal themes!

Experience the revitalizing and healing energy of music, spiritual song and movement of the Dances of Universal Peace. Dancers of all levels, including children, are able to follow along and dance together. Each dance is taught afresh at each gathering.

Many of the songs use chants, melodies, or sacred phrases from spiritual traditions around the world including indigenous and earth and nature-based spirituality. Movements are simple circle dance movements.
The Dances of Universal Peace occur in Eugene on first, third, and fifth Fridays! Donations requested, though not required for attendance. Please bring water bottle for personal hydration. Masks are optional. Please avoid fragrances as some participants have sensitivities.
