Summer Solstice Ritual Journeyđź’Ą
Details
The summer solstice is a space of transition fueled by the sun’s power. This ritual uses that liminal tension to journey to our spirit guides for wisdom, guidance, and healing.
Join Ray and co-facilitator Tripp for a guided drum journey into energetic realms. Ray will drum steadily on an asymmetrical bodhran at a tempo known to help induce a light meditative state. Bring a personal intention — guides you want to meet, or something you want to request from them.
The guided meditation includes: connecting with the body, the earth, and energetic realms. Then we travel through a forest and a tunnel to reach a “safe space.” The drum — and sometimes light vocalizations from Ray — will continue for 20-30 minutes while we meet our guides and fulfill our intention. After returning to the safe space, the tunnel, the forest, and our bodies, we’ll have time for notetaking and optional sharing before closing the circle together.
About the practice:
This style of spirit guide journey draws from what some practitioners call "core western shamanism" — a distillation of practices found from Central America to pagan Ireland to Central Asia. The core mechanism of using a drum to enter a light meditative state and communicate with healing spirits appears among disparate cultures, each with their own processes. By creating a general framework for that practice, we make it accessible to anyone who feels called to it, regardless of background or ancestry. Ray calls this work “trance journeying,” rather than “shamanism,” due to the Black and brown origins of that word. Arden Intuition is committed to uncolonization and takes cultural appropriation seriously.
