About us

Community Rights Lane County is a local group that is seeking to empower individuals to have a say in what happens in their communities. Too often the people who live in a community don’t have a say in the democratic process. They are trumped by corporate, political, or financial power.

We seek to educate and empower individuals around the Rights of Nature with our initiatives associated with Protect Lane County Watersheds. Nature, especially water, is the ultimate unifier and what we all depend on. Come take a deep dive into the world of protecting our precious planet.

Our monthly events feature philosophical presentations, deep dives, speakers, games, discussions, food and volunteer opportunities. Come see what we’re all about!

Decolonize the Mind a presentation by Community Rights Action
Mon, Nov 16 · 6:00 PM PST
Drop Bear Brewery, 2690 Willamette Street ,, Eugene, OR, US
Community Rights Lane County is featuring a philosophical talk on how the language of the Rights of Nature is hard to introduce into law. The Rights of Nature seeks to establish legal rights to nature so nature can be defended in a court of law.

We’ll explore the language of indigenous tribes, which the rights of nature are heavily rooted in. Then we’ll see the contrasting language of law that’s rooted heavily in colonialism.

There will be reflection questions, time for discussion and questions for the presenter.

Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase.

Free street parking and limited parking lot parking.

Come with us to community build and stay active in what happens in your community!
