Site Tour - Hummingbird Wholesale

The final site tour in the summer series. We have seen some impressive locations over the summer where individuals and groups are creating a preferred future in the here and now.

Meet at 150 Shelton - McMurphey Blvd. 1 PM Saturday, Aug 9

Hummingbird Wholesale is our final destination. HB is a lot more than a natural food distributor. The buildings contain many natural, recycled, PV and energy efficient features. HB has a business incubator and commercial kitchen and offices for progressive organizations. HB provides support and incentives for regional farmers to go organic, transition to food producing agriculture and try unusual crops - HB shares the risk. Site tours over the summer have included Jan Spencer's 25 yo suburban permacuture home, Duma Community, Common Ground Garden, The Friendly Toolbox Project, private homes with resilience/preparedness features including Map Your Neighborhood, East Blair Housing Cooperative and Maitreya Eco Village.
