Details

This is the second event of the "Reclaiming & Renewing Our Public Education: A Series of Community Dialogues for 2013-2014" series.

"The Dilemmas of Standardized Testing in Public Education: Lessons from Seattle"

Featuring: Rachel Eels (teacher, Garfield High School) and Falmata Seid (student, Garfield High School)

This community dialogue tells the story behind actions at Seattle’s Garfield High School last spring. We will look at purposes of testing, effects on classroom instruction, and the impacts upon students, teachers, and community, which eventually led to a boycott of the district-administered Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test.
