CHANGE NOTICE
We did not get enough people to sign up for this event to do the milk tasting. However, we are still meeting. I'm buying dinner (using the $10 fee) and we are hanging out - playing games or watching a movie. Please do join us. Just know that the content of the event has changed.
*****
Last year's balsamic vinegar tasting got a lot of people very excited, bringing out more new attendees than normal. There's something just so fun about taste tests, and it's a lot more economical and efficient when someone else is buying all the samples. This year, I thought it would be interesting to do blind taste tests of almond and soy plant milks. You probably already found at least an almond milk that you like. But could there be one you like even better? That is cheaper? Or has some other characteristic you would prefer?

Are they all the same or very different? You might be surprised!

HERE'S HOW IT WILL WORK
I will buy at least 4 commercial soy milks (1, 2, 3, 4) and 4 commercial almond milks (A, B, C, D). I'm toying with including home made versions as well, but that is not a promise. I am also going to get a mystery milk that you can guess what type it is (oat?, almond-oat?, rice?, hemp?, etc).

You will be given a rating sheet where you can rate each milk by taste and texture and make notes.

Then we will have a big reveal where you will learn what the brands are, the cost per ounce, other factors such as organic or not, what other ingredients are in the milk and at least one store where you can purchase it.

We will also have a group discussion about who liked what and why and share ideas on what to do with plant milks.

If there is time and interest, I'll do a presentation busting soy myths. (Maybe that's too much?) And if I have time, I'm also thinking of making soy yogurt out of a soy milk so you can taste how incredibly good it is (way better than commercial brands in my opinion) and see how easy soy yogurt is to make.

COST
I will supply all the milks, at least one pallet cleanser, and snacks. You pay $10 cash/person to cover the costs of food. Any left over money (if any) will go to covering other costs of running Eugene Veggies. This is one of the easiest events you could attend as you don't have to do anything to prepare!

Note: If $10 is a stretch for your budget right now, just bring what you can afford. We still want you to come.

HAVE YOUR OWN FAVORITE MILK?
If you have a favorite soy or almond milk and you want to see how it stacks up to other brands and are willing to get me the milk a day ahead of time, email me separately, and I'll give you more details.

WHAT IS THE ADDRESS/LOCATION?
Note that the location shown on this screen is NOT correct. I live in the Santa Clara area and will be emailing out my real address along WITH additional event information the day before the event. If you do not get that email, let me know so that I can send it to you again.

THE SIDE ENTERTAINMENT
Fair warning for those who haven't been to my house before: I share my above with friendly, but large and energetic Great Dane named Cake.
