GitOps has changed how we deploy and manage the infrastructure behind our software. Git is the single source of truth, every change goes through review, and machines make reality match the code. Now AI is supercharging it.
For years, GitOps had one big catch: it was expensive. Clicking a resource together in a cloud console took minutes. Writing the same thing as code took hours: provider docs, resourGitOps has changed how we deploy and manage the infrastructure behind our software. Git is the single source of truth, every change goes through review, and machines make reality match the code. Now AI is supercharging it.
For years, GitOps had one big catch: it was expensive. Clicking a resource together in a cloud console took minutes. Writing the same thing as code took hours: provider docs, resource schemas, painful imports of things that already existed, and plans that never quite matched. Many teams kept clicking, and their infrastructure drifted away from Git.
AI agents change that. Agents are far better at writing code than at clicking through UIs. They write OpenTofu/Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes manifests, read live state from your cloud, and iterate on plan until the code matches reality. Bringing existing infrastructure into Git, one component at a time, is suddenly realistic. It also works the other way round: anything that only lives in a console is invisible to your agents.ce schemas, painful imports of things that already existed, and plans that never quite matched.
