Ninth Street Women Book Club

We will be discussing Chapters 2 and 3 on Sunday, May 18th.

Ninth Street Women, by Mary Gabriel, explores the inner lives of the Female Abstract Expressionists. Delve into the minds of Lee Krasner, Elaine DeKooning, Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, and Grace Hartigan.

Learn about these gutsy women and the path they forged through the Male-Dominated Art World of their time. Please bring a copy of the book with you. We meet on a monthly basis.

This will be our third meeting. If you couldn't attend the others, it's ok. We discussed the previous chapters, and had some heated discussions about politics, gender, inequality, motherhood, and career paths.

We will be discussing Chapters 2 and 3 on Sunday, May 18th

Please highlight passages you would like to read out loud to the group so that we can discuss them together. Or, write notes in the margins, star passages, etc.

I can compile some images of the work discussed in the Chapters. I will share some on my laptop or Ipad. You are welcome to do the same.
