NOTE: This event will be online using Zoom.

WordPress came out with Full Site Editing a few years ago. The new Site Editor gave us the ability to edit the complete website and not be limited by what theme allowed.

We’ve been interested in having someone give us a presentation on Full Site Editing and Brad Cathey has agreed to do that.

Brad Cathey was a graphic designer by trade, but became fascinated with technology after bringing desktop publishing to his firm in the mid-1980s. When the Web arrived in the 90s, Brad discovered his knack for programming. He began building sites and hand-coding web applications for clients.

In 2016, he sought more portable platforms to free his clients from proprietary CMS’s and chose WordPress. At first, frustrated by its unconventional approach, he soon embraced the new paradigm and all the innovations WordPress introduced. Still a graphic designer at heart, Brad approaches web development as a communicator, not a coder.

In his presentation, Brad will share his designer-to-developer backstory. He will discuss avoiding third-party themes and page builders in favor of custom themes, the block editor, and full site editing.
