Evanston Writers’ Workshop Long Development Group--meeting
Details
Howdy all,
This is currently the placeholder for the next Long Development Group meeting. I will send out the calls for submission email soon. However, if you find this and I have yet to update it, you most likely can submit something still. And we have an important update.
Meeting location change, for the next meeting, we will be meeting at Sketch Brewing located at 821 Chicago Avenue in Evanston, Illinois.
The meetings will still be held on the last Thursday of the month.
Now onto the mission blurb:
The Long Development Group mission blurb: to provide feedback and critique of a longer, more developed piece of 10,000 to 30,000 words. The goal of this group is to analyze and give more overview-type feedback (e.g., plot, premise, structure, consistent voice, etc.)
***Guidelines and announcements.***
Authors are encouraged to write a full summary of their submissions/project’s plot, Feel free to include tropes, inspirations, or the ontological motivations for the why this story exists.
I'm going to go ahead and specify that the manuscript submission must be the most up-to-date and polished manuscript draft you have. Do not send me something you haven't touched in months and give a gave a look-back through before submitting.
The manuscript needs to be polished. Additionally, not this month, but the next month going forward. For July--If you want to submit for July, I'm going to strongly encourage attending the June submission meeting.
As well, I'm advising whoever submits to have critical questions about stuff in the piece they wish to be answered. What do you want us to read for? What do you think is a particular weakness of the work, are you trying to develop a subplot, any motifs, stuff like that.
The questions can be located at the top, in footnotes, or trunked in the bottom of the document. As well, what kind of feedback you are looking for. This must be particular and precise to be of any help.
That is all.
We look forward to your joining the nest Developmental Group meeting!
