About us
Evening Sketchers is a casual group for people who want to learn how to sketch but aren't sure where to start. Whether you've never held a pencil for drawing or you've been meaning to get back into art, this is the place for you. We meet regularly to work through fundamentals together—things like basic shapes, proportions, shading, and perspective—in a low-pressure environment where mistakes are just part of the process. You'll get gentle guidance from experienced sketchers and plenty of time to just draw at your own pace.
The whole point of this group is to make sketching feel accessible and fun. We're not here to create gallery-ready masterpieces or stress about technique. Instead, we focus on building confidence, discovering what kind of art you enjoy, and supporting each other along the way. Everyone brings their own sketchbook and pencils, and we provide tips and feedback if you want it. The vibe is genuinely welcoming—no judgment, no egos, just people who enjoy drawing and want to share that with others.
If you've felt intimidated by art groups in the past or worried you're "not artistic enough," I'd encourage you to give us a try. Most of our members started exactly where you might be right now, and they've found a real community here. You'll be surprised how quickly you improve when you're drawing regularly and surrounded by people who get why you're doing it.
