Parlons français! Monthly French conversation group

Join the group “French Practice” at the AFD/FIM! An excellent way to practice your French skills in a laid back manner and a great opportunity to meet people! Meet Wednesday at 10am for one hour and a half in a French environment with like-minded students and a native speaker facilitator. Attendees need to have if possible a B1 level at least (ask us if you are unsure of your level! afd@afdetroit.org)
Free for members, $5 for non-members (join here), level B1 and above recommended.

Le Panache
is a 2024 French comedy-drama film by Jennifer Devoldère . Adapted from the play "Being Cyrano" that tells the story of a boy who takes refuge in an imaginary world to escape the violence of his father. The movie follows Colin's journey of overcoming isolation and stuttering to find his voice.
The movie had 3 nominations at the International Film Festival for Children and young audience
All movies are in French subtitled in English!

Painting and speaking French! Watercolor workshop

During this 2h workshop ($40 for non members, $30 for Alliance française members) taught in French in a very relaxing atmosphere, Cara will guide us to learn watercolor painting!
Workshop 5:- Textures de neige, snow textures
Cara Marie Young is an artist from Atlanta, Georgia based in Detroit, Michigan. Her current interdisciplinary painting practice is an evolving response to the human experience, concerned with issues of race in the American landscape. Cara finds relaxation in watercolor painting and she enjoy sharing those moments and her skills.
Material is not included. Bring your own material: watercolors, paper, brushes... (feel free to request a suggested material list before registration)-

Kings' cake event and fun afternoon Sunday January 25th @3pm
30800 Telegraph Rd suite 2925, Bingham Farms, MI, USJoin us on Sunday January 25th for our Galette de rois/kings' cake event! Adults and kids welcome, bring friends!
Several Galettes des rois/ kings' cakes will be served we will "draw the kings" (tirer les rois), you will learn about this fun French tradition!
You will also be able to learn and play petits chevaux, belote, tarot or other typical French games... Play in French, play in English, just come and enjoy a fun and friendly atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon!
Please register ahead of time ON OUR WEBSITE or call/email us (afd@afdetroit.org 248-538-5440) to register so we have an idea of how many attendees we can expect and how many king's cakes to bring!
