This fall, two artists who are connected on a healing wavelength: Mayphy & Etsuko Muraki's fifth concert at MANDARACHA.

In the ancient capital of Kyoto, bathed in autumn colors and the chirping of insects, let's open our ears and hearts to the gratitude of the natural change of seasons. Like sipping tea, we will slowly be transported to a dream we once had.

This concert begins with a moment to feel the clear tone and long lingering resonance of the orin, a soothing sound that shifts from a steady, straight tone to a vibrating sound.
Next, singer-songwriter Mayphy will perform a healing-themed piece, weaving piano and vocals.
The two will then perform a harmonious collaboration, featuring "Rebirth," a piece Mayphy composed in response to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. There will also be an improvised vocal storytelling session themed around nature and "Autumn Déjà Vu," accompanied by Orin's exquisite harmonies.
Enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime concert, complete with the Japanese atmosphere of MANDARACHA and a gentle vegan dessert and tea.

Mayphy's profile: singer-song writer
She began playing piano at the age of four and has been a dance instructor since she was 19. After organizing musicals, she moved to the UK in 2006 and spent four years studying and working in music in London. While studying abroad in London, she discovered traditional Indian music and incorporated sitar, tanpura, tabla, and vocal raga into her live performances.
After moving to France in 2010, she performed with the world music band "Phildissime," producing and releasing mini-albums including "Rebirth," which explores the theme of all living things through instruments such as singing bowls, Kaval flute, oud, and cello.
After returning to Japan in 2012, she became a music instructor in Kyoto. Her albums include "Rebirth," "Mind Map," "4 Elements," and "Departure," and on June 21st of this year, she released "La vie en chansons." In 2025, she will focus on this new album and perform live performances that bring healing and energy through musical expression in French, Japanese, and English.

Etsuko Muraki's profile:
Leveraging her experience as a therapist, she began working as a "sound therapist" as a player of the Kyoto Sabari Orin ensemble in 2020. The orin, characterized by its clear tone and long-lasting resonance, soothes the listener's mind and induces deep relaxation. Through performances in spaces that evoke nature and tradition, such as Japanese gardens, tea rooms, and hotel events, we offer a "Sound Bath" experience where you can fully experience the resonance of the music. During performances, your senses are sharpened, your concentration heightened, and your emotions enriched. We have also shared the appeal of orin as a part of Kyoto's traditional culture, earning positive reviews from overseas.

[About Sahari Orin]
We use orin made by Nanjo Kobo in Uji, Kyoto, which specializes in producing orin, bayashi gongs, and other musical instruments for Shinto and Buddhist altars, drawing on the advanced techniques and knowledge cultivated over a history spanning more than 200 years. "Sahari" is a copper and tin alloy that was once used in the Shosoin treasures. Nanjo Kobo utilizes the unique blending ratio and traditional techniques passed down through generations to create unique tones.

このコンサートは、おりんの澄んだ音色と長い余韻、
真っ直ぐに響く安定音から揺らぎになる心地よい音を身体で感じる時間からはじまる。次にシンガーソングライターMayphyの、ピアノと唄で紡ぐ癒しがテーマの時間がある。

そして2人の調和演奏コラボレーションでは、2011年に起きた東日本大震災の影響でMayphyが作曲した “Rebirth”、また、おりんの絶妙なハーモニーに合わせた、自然と『秋のデジャヴ』をテーマにした即興の声での物語の時間がある。

曼荼羅茶の和の空間と優しいVeganデザートとお茶がついた一期一会のコンサートをお楽しみください。

Mayphy （メイフィー）
Profile : Singer song writer
4歳からピアノを始め19歳からダンス講師。
ミュージカル主催を経て、
2006年 渡英 ロンドンで4年間音楽留学・活動。
ロンドン留学期に、インド伝統音楽に出逢い、Sitar、Tanpura 、Tabla、”Raga 声楽”をライブに取り入れた活動も経験。
2010年渡仏後、world music band “Phildissime”と共演、Singing Bowl 、Kaval flute、Oud、Cello等の楽器で表現した生きとし生けるもがテーマの ”Rebirth”を含むミニアルバム制作・リリース。
2012年帰国後、京都で音楽講師。アルバム作品は、『Rebirth』
『Mind Map』『4Elements』『Departure』と今年6/21に『La vie en chansons 』を発表。2025年はこの新アルバムを中心に、仏語、日英語、日本語による音楽表現で癒しと元気のライブ活動を展開中。

Etsuko Muraki
profile:
セラピストとしての経験を活かし、2020年より京都佐波理おりんの奏者として「音のセラピスト」として活動する。澄んだ音色と長い余韻が特徴のおりんは、聴く人の心を穏やかにし、深いリラックスをもたらします。日本庭園や茶室、ホテルイベントなど、自然や伝統を感じられる空間での演奏を通じて、音の響きを全身で感じる「音浴（Sound Bath）」の時間を提供。演奏中は五感が研ぎ澄まされ、集中力が高まり、感性豊かな時間に。海外の方々にも京都の伝統文化としてのおりんの魅力を伝え、好評をいただく。

【佐波理おりんについて】
創業200年余りの歴史に培われた高度な技術と知恵をもとに、おりん、囃子鉦、鳴物神仏具を専門につくり続ける京都宇治にある南條工房様のおりんを使用。
「佐波理(さはり)」とは、古くは正倉院宝物にも用いられた銅と錫の合金です。
南條工房様では代々受け継ぐ工房独自の配合率と伝統技術で素材の特性を生かし、二つとない音色を生み出しています。
