Beginner/intermediate Hiking n Backpacking

If you’re healthy and reasonably fit, enjoy hiking, and want to start or do more backpacking, this event could be a great fit for you.
This is a beautiful area with scenic views of the Delaware Water Gap, along the Appalachian Trail on the PA–NJ border.

You can do either PART 1 or PART 2 — or both.
Let me know if you only do one part.

– Day 1 / Saturday –

PART 1 (day hike w/o backpack):

Meet at 9:00 AM at the Appalachian Trailhead, Lenape Lot (GPS: 40.97985, -75.14183).
We will set up a car shuttle to the AT Fox Gap Parking Area for a 7-mile hike along the Appalachian Trail. There are a couple of beautiful lookouts over the Delaware Water Gap where we can stop for a lunch break.

PART 2 (backpacking - carry food/water, sleeping gears):

Meet at 2:00 PM(Sat) at the same trailhead (Lenape Lot).
We’ll walk or drive (park at Dunfield Creek Nature Area) across the bridge from PA to NJ, then hike 3.5 miles along the Appalachian Trail to a dry campsite (maybe water along the trail, but not reliable).

– Day 2 / Sunday –

We’ll start around 9:00 AM for a ~7.5-mile hike back, looping around Sunfish Pond. Hopefully, we’ll find and pick lots of wild blueberries like we did last year — and eat plenty along the way!
After the hike, we’ll stop for ice cream (it’s really good!), and maybe grab some food and cold beers if anyone’s interested.
