Details

A rare opportunity has presented itself in the form of an unusually cool and dry period for this summer hike.

Waitlisted with vetting and easy to answer questions.

Average time to complete: 16 hours

Fastest Known Time: Great Range - 4h 42m

Fastest Known Time: Devil's Path - 4h 13m

Fastest Known Time: Presidential Traverse - 3h 38m

My expected timeframe for this hike is 12 to 13 hours. As with all NEU8 hikes, you need to be in a current vigorous and appropriately challenging training program.

The Great Range Traverse is a challenging route that crosses over the summits of the High Peaks' most notable peaks, such as Upper and Lower Wolfjaw, the Gothics, Saddleback, Mount Haystack, and Mount Marcy. The highlights of the Range are its stunning views, challenging scrambles, and diverse conditions.

Start of the hike: Garden Parking Area (End of Johns Brook Lane)

End of the hike: Roostercomb Parking Area (Route 73)

App: AllTrails, Grate Range Traverse (this is the same route used by FNT)

This hike can be done solo as a loop by walking 1.9 miles from Roostercomb to Garden Parking at the end of Johns Brook Lane.

Equipment:
Headlamp with fresh batteries
Poles, sturdy hiking boots, filtering water pump, map or app with the route as outlined in this notice.
