Please, dress in layers. It might be warm to start but temperatures change quicky as we ascend and the tops are usually cold and windy even in the middle of summer! Also, sturdy shoes are recommended, with a good grip, particularly for the climb to Jefferson. Bring water, food and a headlamp. Food and water can be replenished at Mt Washington or one of the huts.

Description:
The initial climb to Mount Jefferson is on the Caps Ridge trail. This is one of the TERRIFYING 25 (not that scary, but be aware!). After reaching the peak, the Mt Jefferson Loop trail will connect to the Gulfside Trail which will take us to Mt Washington after passing the side trail to Mt Clay.

The descent is on the Crawford Path to the Lake of the Clouds hut. Then the Mount Monroe Loop will take us to that peak before descending back to Crawford. We continue on this one for a while before reaching the Mount Franklin Loop that will take us to that peak before descending back to the Crawford Path.

Next is the Eisenhower Loop which is also off Crawford but will descend back to it. We continue on this path until we reach the Webster-Cliff trail (also part of the Appalachian Trail) which will take us to the top of Mt Pierce. We descend to the Mizpah Spring hut and from there we climb to Mt Jackson. We descend, still on Webster-Cliff, all the way to the Webster-Jackson trail where we take a left to the top of Mt Webster. We quickly retrace from there descending on Webster-Jackson all the way to the road (Rt 302).

The final section of this hike is a road walk. From Rt 302 we make a right on Mt Clinton Rd. After passing Base Station Rd it changes name to Jefferson Notch Rd but it will continue to our starting point at the Caps Ridge traihead.
