[**New Date**] Black Mountain via Rhus Ridge

Join us for this challenging hike near Los Altos. You'll get a solid workout while enjoying sweeping views of Silicon Valley. The trail is partially shaded; the last mile up to the summit is exposed. Be sure to dress appropriately and carry enough food and water.

The first mile near the trailhead and last mile before the summit are challenging. This is not a hike for the novice hiker.

If there is interest (and there usually is), we can go out and get a well deserved lunch after the hike.

Restrooms: none available once you begin the hike

Parking at the trailhead is extremely limited; for this reason, plan to park at Foothill College (which has abundant parking) and walk from there. This will add > 1 mile to the hike overall.

Schedule:
8:00 AM: meet at the Foothill parking lots next to the El Monte Fire Station.
8:15 AM sharp: Start walking towards the Rhus Ridge Trailhead.
~8:30 AM: Start the hike from the Rhus Ridge Trailhead.

You are welcome to meet us directly at the trailhead if you score parking there.

Latecomers will have to catch up on their own.

Dogs are not permitted on this trail.
