This month we’re watching Funny Face (1957), a musical romantic comedy directed by Stanley Donen and starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. On assignment, fashion photographer Dick Avery (Astaire) is struck by the beauty of Jo Stockton (Hepburn), a shy bookstore employee he's photographed by accident, who he believes has the potential to become a successful model. They travel to France for a photo shoot and they begin to fall for one another, only to find hurdles in their way. The film received four Academy Award nominations: for "Best Writing, Story and Screenplay - Written Directly for the Screen"; "Best Costume Design"; "Best Cinematography"; and "Best Art Direction-Set Decoration".
