CRUNCHY TOPIC: Vacuum Decay

Vacuum decay happens when a vacuum moves from a false vacuum to a true vacuum. Vacuum is described as a particular region being at the minimum energy. It is theoretically possible that you could have a local (false) minimum that isn’t the True Minimum (or True Vacuum). Some think that any space that can hold universal laws is not at the true minimum. We can only be at a False Vacuum if the observable universe is at the False Vacuum state since decaying from False Vacuum to True Vacuum will spread at the speed of light.

During this episode we will discuss the concepts and differences between a False Vacuum and a True Vacuum, what would happen if the False Vacuum decays into a true Vacuum, what is the likelihood that this theoretical scenario exists in reality, and what we can do about it.
