What weโre about
Everyday Spacer Los Angeles is a Meetup for anyone with even a mild interest in space exploration, astronomy and similar topics.
You should join if you would like to go to a star party and look through a variety of telescopes and see objects in the night sky. Or maybe you like hearing lectures about interesting, updated topics from notable engineers and scientists.
Not your thing?
How about some hands-on/'maker' type events?
We'll list local events in each of these areas and more (see our topics list below).
If you decide to join, you can expect us to list as many events as we learn about in Los Angeles and beyond. We'd love your help of course. And, if you become a member, you'll be expected to actually participate in something we list!
This is important.
It's not a 'meetup' if you never attend an event. Please be sure to R.S.V.P. 'YES' if you intend to go. A 'NO' or no answer will be considered the same. If you happen to show up at an event with limited resources in spite of that, you may be turned away and we'll all be sad about that!
Mainly, we want to show you ways you can personally and directly participate in this exciting area and have FUN doing it!
If you ever need anything from us, do call or write. We'll include contact information anytime you join and we send you the traditional 'welcome' message - usually within a day or two.
Thank you and enjoy the events we already found and listed for you.

"The Rubin Observatory houses the Simonyi Survey Telescope, a wide-field reflecting telescope with an 8.4-meter primary mirror. The telescope uses a variant of three-mirror anastigmat, which allows the telescope to deliver sharp images over a 3.5-degree-diameter field of view. Images are recorded by a 3.2-gigapixel charge-coupled device imaging (CCD) camera, the largest camera yet constructed." ~Wikipedia
So what does all that mean?

- Local Star Party: Library After DarkArroyo Vista Community Park, Moorpark, CA
## Moorpark City Library is Hosting Several Star Parties This Summer...
They asked me to help!
Next Event: September 27th
Full event flier can be seen here: https://spacer.pamhoffman.com/local-star-party-library-after-dark/
IF you've been to a Star Party before, you probably have a pretty good idea how to prepare and what happens at the event.
If you don't, please read the following...
IMPORTANT!
Rain Cancels.
I can work with a clear sky and even a cloudy one. If it rains, we will try again the next time.
The general 'etiquette' is to shine a red flashlight only.
If you must use a white flashlight, please point it away from people. Red light allows observers to remain 'dark adapted' so the iris in their eyes is open wider to see the dim stars still.
Dress in layers, even a hot day can turn very cool at night, standing in a field.
Bring food and drink appropriate to what you need. Avoid glass containers. PLEASE take any trash out with you or use the Park receptacles.
And Especially, Have Fun!

- AudioZoom New Outer Limits Brainstorm/Discuss/Create Scenarios/Dimensions/WorldsLink visible for attendees
We'll start w/a simple audio-only zoom gathering, to get a chance to be introduced to each other in this new session of the gathering, --thru beginning to brainstorm, discuss, & cocreate what is described below. And over time we'll evolve to do whole gathering described below:
ZOOM link POSTED UNDER YOUTUBE VIDEO AT LEAST 1 HOUR BEFORE EACH GATHERING(Skip watching the video til I've updated it & instead read current info below): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-lLVVKFOfQ&list=PLK1Voc8y_0HoirsGHCNZqhe9edE8glT0F
A free monthly gathering to connect w/peers who not only love the New Outer Limits TV series from the 90s: Gather On Zoom & Create New Scenarios...live them, roleplay...but more like exploratory theme or workshop activities than a LARP:
๐ธ brainstorm new episodes, new dimensions, new worlds. Our fantasy futures. The positives & the challenges:
. ๐ญ Though we do all sorts of activities inspired by this series; the main intention is to cocreate, roleplay scenarios, live in new ways; expand our perceptions, challenge ourselves, use our full potentials. And explore what fun, inventive, outside the box things we could do to bring the most exciting & essential new frontiers into the world now.
๐ฎ Though the creature feature episodes were sometimes amusing, they were more similar to each other, generally more simply action, less exploratory about the future: So we don't tend to focus on them or horror-genre episodes; unless they have food for thought / new ideas that inspire us to explore/createa positive new frontiers.
๐ This will evolve to be a 3 part gathering:
1). We'll start by doing a 20 min AUDIO-ONLY GATHERING ( we may stay longer, but ARRIVE W/IN 1st 20 min, as we may not!!!).
2). **THEN IN A MONTH or two WE'LL START 1st w/a VIDEO ZOOM face-to-face Outer Limits-themed Icebreaker activities that are at least 50% gently physically active: Imaginative, Humorous, Meaningful/Envelope-pushing ACTIVITIES: Like Party Games, Improv Games, Surrealist Games, Get-To-Know-Each-Other's-Universe Games, Story Games, etc. This will then be followed by the short audio meetup above, & then--
3). We'll fo the full VIDEO ZOOM face-to-face workshop described above.
Though Dec 30 we'll only be doing the audio gathering;
in following months we'll do all 3; --w/15, 20min or 40 min each(depending on how big a group we are & how long we want to go). And eventually will be a 90 min gathering ( & eventually I'll move time to 7pm ...or earlier).TO ATTEND:
- Fully read this post, I'll eventually post new videos here: https://www.youtube.com/@WRP_Diana
