What we're about

Come ride with us! Our beginner and intermediate bike rides are sponsored by a local independent bike sales and repair center in Rockville--EvoCycleworks and Evo Red/Bike Max, specializing in a large variety of bikes and services that work for you!

We sponsor weekly fun and casual rides for cyclists who like to ride on trails or low-traffic roads around Rockville, Olney and local areas. Riders need to be comfortable with changing terrain (roads/trails/turns/hills) and wear a helmet. Our ride pace is average 10 mph (7-8 on uphills, faster on downhills). Our rides will be led by experienced ride leaders who will encourage both safety and fun. We ride together so no one is "dropped." We plan a wide variety of rides for those who prefer trails and those who like road riding. Please make sure you read the ride description to make sure the ride is for you.

Most rides are between 10-25 miles, and we end a lot of rides with an optional group lunch. We never mind answering questions for beginners. We hope you join our next ride.

By riding with us on Meetup - Evo Cycling Rockville Rides, you agree that cycling involves risks and dangers including injury, paralysis and death and that you agree to indemnify and save and hold harmless the Sponsor (EvoCycleworks LLC/BikeMax/EvoRed) from all liability, claims, demands, losses or damages on your account caused or alleged to be caused in whole or part of the negligence of the Ride Leader or others in the Meetup Ride.

12 Mile Olney-Laytonsville Moderate Sunday Road Ride

Needs a location

Dave K is leading this country road ride, from Olney and around rural Laytonsville, with some traffic on Route 108. On a Sunday afternoon, traffic is at a minimum. This is a route for riders comfortable on roads with small or no shoulders. Average 10 mph pace. There is one brief sharp downhill and half mile climb up 5%. Road bikes recommended (no hybrids or mountain bikes).

Dave tested this route: "The only physical challenge is a roughly 12% down/up grade around Hawlings River on Griffith Rd. Other than that it's as flat as we can hope for around here."

Start at Mt. Zion Park in Olney, with a porta john at the start. Bring a spare tube, water, helmet. See you there.
