### Special Guest Event: Haiku in Esperanto with Ulka Zybura 🌿📚
We’re excited to host a special cultural gathering at Qahwah House (2869 Broadway, at 111th St) on Sunday, September 14th, from 12:00–2:00 PM.
Our guest will be Ulka Zybura, a poet and writer from Poland, who has presented her work internationally (including Yale University). She’ll be sharing selections from her bilingual book Haikoj Jazz — haiku poems written in Esperanto, the international language designed to connect people across cultures.
☕ What to expect
- A chance to hear and appreciate poetry in Esperanto (with English context)
- Time to relax, drink coffee or tea, and chat with others
- A welcoming atmosphere — perfect for anyone curious about languages and culture
- An introduction to the Esperanto community in New York City
🌱 No experience needed!
You don’t need to know Esperanto to enjoy this event. Beginners and the simply curious are especially welcome — just bring your interest in languages and culture.
📌 Accessibility note: Qahwah House is not wheelchair accessible. Seating is mostly on the second floor (stairs only), and the men’s restroom is located in the basement (stairs as well).
Join us for a relaxed afternoon of poetry, conversation, and cultural exchange.
