Join us for a relaxed language and culture meetup exploring the fascinating world of Esperanto, the international language created to bring people together.
Our guest, Silvia Pilger from the Netherlands, grew up speaking Esperanto at home. She’ll share what it was like to grow up in an Esperanto-speaking family, how her parents fell in love through Esperanto letters across Cold-War Europe, and how she continues using the language today.
When: Sunday, October 19, 2025 · 12:00 p.m.
📍 Where: Qahwah House, 2869 Broadway (at 112th St), Manhattan
This is an informal café conversation, not a lecture — just a friendly afternoon with coffee, stories, and discussion about language, culture, and connection.
Everyone is welcome: polyglots, language learners, and the simply curious.
No prior knowledge of Esperanto is required — come to listen, learn, and meet new people.
