Esperanto Conversation Meetup in Midtown · Language Learners
Details
Interested in languages, multilingualism, linguistics, or international culture?
Join Evolving Lingvo NYC for an informal Esperanto conversation meetup on Saturday, August 22 at 12:30 PM in Midtown Manhattan.
Esperanto was created as an international language for communication across language backgrounds, and it continues to be spoken by communities around the world. This gathering is a chance to hear it used in person, practice what you know, ask questions, and meet other people interested in languages.
You are welcome whether you:
- already speak Esperanto
- are currently learning it
- enjoy linguistics or constructed languages
- speak or study several languages
- are simply curious about how Esperanto works
- want to meet other language enthusiasts in NYC
No previous knowledge of Esperanto is required. This is a social gathering rather than a formal class. Conversation may move between Esperanto and English, and newcomers are welcome to listen, ask questions, learn a few words, or participate at their own level.
Tomaso Eccardt will host this gathering.
### When
Saturday, August 22, 2026
12:30 PM
### Where
We will meet in the covered section of Avenue 6½ between West 51st and West 52nd Streets in Midtown Manhattan.
Avenue 6½ is a pedestrian passage running parallel to, and between, Sixth and Seventh Avenues.
For navigation, use:
Aldo Sohm Wine Bar
151 W 51st St
New York, NY 10019
Important: We are meeting outside in the covered pedestrian passage, not inside the wine bar.
There are tables in the passage near Aldo Sohm where attendees may order nonalcoholic drinks. If those tables are unavailable, we can use nearby public seating.
Because the passage is covered, rain should not be a problem.
### Getting there
R train: 49th Street
E or C train: 7th Avenue
1 train: 50th Street
Look for an Esperanto flag, Esperanto books, and Tomaso.
All levels are welcome, including complete beginners. Come practice, listen, ask questions, and meet some of NYC’s language-learning and Esperanto community.
