Dear Boston Engineers Without Borders Members,
We’re pleased to invite you to our May Chapter Meeting on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00 PM (Location TBD), where we’ll welcome a powerful voice in global development:
Ernest Masaaba, Country Director of Operation One in Uganda, is a Ugandan educator and child advocate committed to transforming the lives of children affected by poverty, health crises, and limited access to education. Having witnessed the nationwide impact of the AIDS crisis in Uganda, Ernest offers deep insights into the intersection of health, education, and resilience in underserved communities.
In this talk, Ernest will share firsthand perspectives on healthcare access challenges in Uganda, where Operation One supports a community clinic in Bugembe. As funding cuts threaten similar facilities, he will explore how corporate partnerships and innovation can help sustain vital services, including HIV/AIDS treatment.
Ernest will also speak on Operation One’s broader work in education and child welfare, highlighting how child sponsorships can break the cycle of poverty by providing schooling, meals, and medical care. This conversation will inspire anyone passionate about humanitarian action and sustainable development.
