Examined Life Recovery
Details
Join us for a discussion of philosophical issues related to sex, sexuality, love, and gender. We'll aim to keep the conversation theoretical and philosophical, but our goal is to address personal questions, uncertainties, or frustrations you may have about these issues. This way, you can make some personal progress without exposing or revealing anything about yourself.
Topics can include:
- What ethical issues arise with watching porn
- What is the relationship between sex and love?
- What does it mean to be 'a man' or 'masculine'?
- Are sexual addictions real and how would I know if I had one?
- What moral standards are relevant in sex?
- What is the role of sexual pleasure in a fulfilled life?
- What are our responsibilities in managing sexual desire?
- What does it mean to have or know one's own sexual identity?
I'll outline the general purpose of the group, go over a few ground rules, and then we'll dive into some philosophical dialogue. There are no readings, and no philosophical background is necessary.
