January 10-11 Ray Benson Sno Park snow snowshoe/ski campout
Details
The Ray Benson sno park is by the Hoodoo ski area on Highway 20. There is a large parking lot and snow shoe / cross county ski trails to and between three warming huts. We will get there Saturday morning and snow shoe or cross county from warming hut to warming hut.
Each warming hut has a fireplace, so at each stop we'll enjoy the ambiance a bit, and then move on. At the last warming hut we will enjoy an evening meal, and then snow camp outside.
If I recall, the Saturday trip will be 6-8 miles over the day, and then the return on Sunday will be 2-3 miles.
I've done this trip before and it is a wonderful day in the snow. The warming huts are not huge so 9 people is probably the max. It is ok if you have not snow camped before if you tell us up front and are wiling to work with us to make sure you are properly equipped for a night in the snow.
