🌌 EC #15 - Adult Friendships & Conscious Connections
Details
After exploring how “othering” shapes the way we see people and experiences, this meetup we’re shifting toward what brings us closer: how friendships form and evolve in adulthood. Without the built-in environments of school or work, connection becomes something we create intentionally rather than something that happens by default.
Let's talk about what makes a healthy friendship, what’s realistic to expect, and how to navigate new relational dynamics with clarity and self-awareness. Adult friendships usually emerge when at least six to eight points of connection align — from shared values and lifestyle to communication style, emotional availability, humor, worldview, rhythm of life, and even energy. Understanding these points helps us stop forcing mismatched connections and instead build relationships that feel natural, mutual, and grounding.
This conversation is for anyone curious about deepening their circle, meeting new people with intention, or learning how to show up more authentically in the friendships they already have:
- Which points of connection matter most to you when building or sustaining a friendship?
- How do you recognize the difference between a nourishing connection and one you’re trying to force?
- What expectations — spoken or unspoken — shape the way you show up in new friendships as an adult?
