What if the question “Do I deserve this?” is actually the wrong question?

If our worth is inherent, then life isn’t distributing experiences based on merit — nor can our worth be taken away by circumstances, outcomes, or what other people value.

Experiences arise — opportunities, limits, endings, connections — not because we earned them or work hard (or not hard enough) for them, but because we are alive in a complex, relational world where timing, systems, chance, constraints, and even other people’s choices all intersect.

What matters, then, is not whether we deserve what happens, but whether we remain connected to ourselves as we meet the next now moment. So how can we do that?

In this gathering, we’ll explore how the idea of deserving can quietly keep us waiting for permission, and how shifting toward agency and self-loyalty changes the way we approach our lives.

  • When something shows up in your life, do you tend to ask “Why me?” or “What now?”
  • Where might you be waiting for permission instead of choosing how to respond?
  • How has “earning” love, safety, or rest shaped your relationship with deserving?
