In the digital world, hackers hunt for every weakness, every crack in the code. No system is truly safe — or is it? Enter quantum cryptography: a new technology that flips the script, using quantum mechanics to build defenses no hacker can break. In this talk, we’ll dive into the history of cryptography, exploring how security and secrecy have been ensured over the ages since ancient history. We will also see how a new generation of devices could actually ensure physical security, generating a photon at the time.

This event is the first experiment of science café where scientists share their research with a general audience and it’s part of a Paris-based Cercle de Réflexion dedicated to sharing existential, philosophical, and leadership ideas that shaped (and are still shaping) our world!
This club-like English-speaking group meets every first Thursday of the month and it's made for anyone interested in educational discussions and resources about philosophy and science where you don’t need to be a graduate-level to understand it.
Format:
This discussion-type event will be made of a short lecture by our friend Dario. The lecture will be followed by an open group discussion, inviting everyone's take on the subject matter.
Reminder:
No-shows and last-minute cancellations aren't tolerated.
No-shows usually get people removed from the group!
