Research and Accessibility: what is our role?

Details

Accessibility has been an important topic in our community for many years. But while the role of designers and developers in improving accessibility is evident, we are still not clear about the role of researchers.

The Experience Research Meetup will focus on this question: what can researchers do to improve accessibility? During the event we will discuss the following topics:

Introduction on accessibility and its relation to inclusiveness.
The journey of Elsevier on accessibility throughout the years.
Best practices on conducting research for accessibility.

The session will be informal, so there is room for questions and discussion.

When: April 8, 16:00-17:00 CEST.

Where: Online (Zoom).

Featuring:
Ted Gies - Accessibility Lead at Elsevier. He leads the accessibility program in Elsevier as well as across the parent company RELX, and collaborates with universities and suppliers to improve policies and tools.

Frans Heeman -UX Manager at Elsevier. His areas of interest include user research, accessibility, data visualization and hi-fi prototyping.

Linda Timmerman – Senior Researcher at User Intelligence. Linda has an interest in visual communication, interaction design, accessibility and UX research.
