It's the perfect weather to explore Nakatsugawa! Are you visiting to hike the Nakasendo and don't know what else to see? Or you traveling through Japan and looking for an authentic day trip?
Take a walk through Nakatsugawa city with a local guide. We’ll meet at Nakatsugawa Station just before 10:00 AM (easily accessible from Nagoya or Matsumoto) and head out for a walk along the old Nakasendo streets, where you’ll get a feel for the town’s history without it feeling like a history lesson. Along the way, we’ll stop into a couple of favorite local spots, including a sake shop and a traditional Japanese sweets shop.
From there, we’ll visit two parks and stop by a neighborhood shrine, chatting about everyday life, culture, and the stories that make Nakatsugawa special. It’s an easy, flexible walk with plenty of time to look around, ask questions, and just enjoy being somewhere a little quieter and more local.
We’ll finish up around noon at a souvenir shop right by the station. If you’re not taking the next train, you’re welcome to join for an optional group lunch at a local favorite spot.
