Capitol Forest Peak & Delta Meteor Shower

Join up before sunset at Capitol Peak and we can start a little fire to get comfortable for a night of stargazing.

The Southern Delta Aquariid meteor shower is actively visible from July 12 to August 23, peaking on the nights of July 29–31. Viewers can expect 15 to 20 meteors per hour under dark skies, though viewing this year will be partially compromised by the glare of the bright late-July moon, Full on the 29th

Where to Look: Face toward the southern sky and locate the constellation Aquarius. The meteors will appear to originate from a point near the star Delta Aquarii

Bring anything you'd like to comfortably watch the skies like blankets and chairs. We'd probably wrap up well before the peak which is closer to dawn, and this is a better shower in the Southern Hemisphere, but it is still going to be a fun night!
