Join us for an evening about Design + Agile! How can designers work best in an Agile setting? What works and what doesn’t? We have two great speakers who’ll share their experiences of the UX design process working within Agile frameworks. We look forward to seeing you there!

Including UX Research within Agile - Talk by Amanda StockwellAdjusting UX research practices to fit into the pace of an Agile setting can be a challenge. Amanda will talk about how to set research scope and set up research logistics to keep pace with Agile teams.

Design + Agile at SAS - Talk by Ron StattRon will share how SAS’s R&D Design Division works with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting. He’ll share insights on lessons learned and how the in-house team works at an enterprise software company.

Agenda

• 6:30-7:00 – Sign-in, grab food (hummus tray, small sandwiches), networking

• 7:00-8:15 – Intro, talks, Q&A

• 8:15-8:45 – Networking

Location
The event will be held in Room 1460, Building W at SAS (700 Research Dr, Cary, NC 27513). For their security office, we’ll need to provide your full name, country of citizenship, and company/school. We’ll ask for this information when registering.

Registration
Registration is $5. Refunds are available until 48 hours before the event start. Please answer the security questions when registering. We respect your privacy and will only share this information with the SAS security office and our on-site coordinator.

Waitlist
If the meetup fills up, please contact Michelle (through Meetup) and provide your name and an email address where we can reach you. Two days before the event if there are spots available, we'll notify those on the waitlist. Any available spots will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Unfortunately, Meetup does not enable an automatic waitlist for fee-associated events.

Amanda Stockwell (President of Stockwell Strategy)Amanda is President of Stockwell Strategy, a UX research practice focused on lean research methods and integrating user knowledge with business goals to create holistic product strategies. She has focused most of the last decade focused on finding innovative ways to understand end users and embed that knowledge into overall process. She’s lead teams that provide research, design, and UX strategy services and frequently writes and speaks about her experience. Ron Statt (Senior Director, R&D, SAS Institute, Inc.)Ron leads the R&D Design Division at SAS, including User Experience Designers, Visual Designers, and Accessibility Analysts. Ron also oversees the R&D Project Management team. Together, these teams use Agile software development practices to design and deliver software for varied users and industries, and organizations.

In the 20+ years that Ron has spent at SAS, he has held positions such as technical writer, training manager, project manager, and consulting manager. He also led a team that created a free, Software-as-a-Service education offering that provides access to analytical software for over 50,000 higher education users and independent learners worldwide.

Ron is a certified project manager and Scrum Master. He holds a Bachelor's of Science in Professional and Technical Communications from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from North Carolina State University.
