Explorer Chick is a 2022 Travel and Leisure World’s Best Tour Operator changing the lives of thousands with our supportive community formed organically by the women who have traveled all over the world with us on our small-group adventure travel tours.
What we got here is a happy by-product of Real Women embarking on Real Adventures. Women bonded together by challenging themselves in the outdoors. Women who naturally encouraged one another and connected right away. Women who live to LIVE.

And we’ve been doing it since 2014! That year, Explorer Chick founder, Nicki Bruckmann was a wife, cat mom and home owner who worked full-time in corporate finance. Instead of feeling fulfilled by ticking all the boxes, she found herself feeling stifled. She made the choice to break away from it all and step out of that life. To figure things out, she needed a vacation reset. But not just any vacation. She wanted something that would feed her adventurous soul and push boundaries. But the thing about divorce? You lose that built-in travel buddy. Believing that other women must also be in the same situation; craving adventure and travel and not wanting to do it all alone, she launched Explorer Chick! Check out the whole story here. Launching in 2015, Explorer Chick ran one trip with three bold ladies looking for adventure. From there, this amazing community of women continues to grow, and in 2022 more than 1100 women traveled with us on 133 trips over 5 continents!
Whether you arrive as a solo traveler or with several of your closest gal pals, you’ll be greeted by a group of like-minded women travelers of all ages who love to go hiking, camping, rafting, backpacking, canyoning, surfing, kayaking, climbing and more. Basically, we’re all in on anything that gets us outdoors and active!
We travel the US National Parks and bucket list destinations like Iceland, Jordan, Galapagos, Croatia, Uganda and so many more.
The best part? You are taken care of by Explorer Chick’s professional, certified guides. They handle all the details: from food to accommodations to gear and extra words of encouragement when you need them the most. Leaving you to simply “mindlessly wander”.

Your adventure in Belize will encompass the best adrenaline-pumping jungle activities on the mainland and the serene, remote island experience in the middle of the Caribbean Sea on a UNESCO-designated Marine Preserve.
During the first half of your jungle adventure, you’ll explore Mayan ruins, navigate caves featuring 3,000-year-old artifacts, and immerse yourself in the Belizean Jungle embarking on new adventures each day.
WATERFALL RAPPELLING, ZIP-LINING, AND CAVING
Learn to rappel and descend 250 feet from the top of a waterfall with views as far as the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Zip-line 2.5 miles through Bocawina National Park over the jungle canopy enjoying Belize from a bird’s eye view. Then, channel your inner Indiana Jones as you strap on your headlamp and step back in time 3,000 years into the depths of a cave with Mayan artifacts and ceremonial alters.
MAYAN RUINS
To top it off, wander the archaeological grounds of Xunantunich. An ancient civilization of over 200,000 people thrived here until 1,000 years ago, when it was mysteriously abandoned. During your adventures on the mainland, stay in a Rainforest Eco-Lodge powered completely by hydroelectricity and solar with your gang of Explorer Chick gal pals.
SNORKELING, KAYAKING, AND SUP
On the second half of your Belize Jungle Tour Adventure, we’ll whisk you away from the mainland! Travel by boat 36 miles to a remote island Glamping base camp for the next 5 days and 4 nights.
Glover’s Reef Marine Preserve is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of only four atolls in the western hemisphere. The turquoise waters are host to over 700 patch reefs. It is one of the richest tropical marine environments in the Caribbean. The waters here are exceptionally clear because of its isolation from the mainland making it a utopia for spotting marine life and water activities. Hello, coral reefs and all the fishies! 🐠
Fill your days with water activities exploring your remote island paradise. Grab snorkel gear and head out on a SUP to swim with sea turtles and colorful fish. Learn to use the wind to your advantage and kayak sail to coral destinations. Master the technique of line fishing from local Belizean guides and cook up your catch for dinner. Or, just kick it in a hammock with a good book as the wind rocks you gently. Oh, and you bet there will be dance parties as you learn Garifuna moves.💃

So, what really makes these last five days special? Your home away from home on a remote, 13-acre island! These digs are Pinterest-worthy tent-walled cabanas with real beds, wooden floors, a porch, and that essential ocean view right outside your screened door. 👌 Go to sleep each night to the sound of the sea lapping the shore from your Cabana.

Iceland Glaciers and Hot Springs Winter Adventure
Iceland, ISSet your Walter Mitty playlist to SHUFFLE as you hike, ice climb, ATV bike, and hot-spring-hop through a Viking land with a population smaller than Staten Island! This 7-day, all-inclusive, women’s-only multi-sport adventure to Iceland will slap over-worked fatigue away to make room in your soul for jaw-dropping beauty, badass women, and the most delicious gas station Pylsa you will ever eat. 🌭
Experience the best of Southern Iceland’s Golden Circle as we board our SHE-nanigan Shuttle for a road trip along the coast. We’ll chase waterfalls, trek across glaciers, audibly moan in hot springs, and spend each night searching for the perfect Van Gogh sky. (Northern Lights season, baby!)
We’ll leave the light pollution of Reykjavik behind to stay in traditional Icelandic Guest Houses and Hotels surrounded by total darkness at night.
When the sun’s beamin’, we’ll frolic on the biggest glaciers decked out in crampons and ice axes. You’ll get sendy ice-climbing glacial walls (Yes, you CAN ice climb!). We’ll set off across black sand beaches on ATV searching for the famous plane wreck and zipping through mountain canyons.
Let’s not forget all of those waterfalls! Instagram-worthy moments include Gulfoss, Strokkur’s steamy water geyser, Skógafoss, strolling along the black sands of Diamond Beach, Glacier Lagoon, Reynisdrangar, and Seljalandsfoss.
Do you work for National Geographic now? Probably.
Did we go overboard with three hot springs soaks? After hiking into a river valley, we strip down ducked behind the smallest wall ever in frigid temperatures to take a dip in a natural hot spring in Iceland surrounded by snowy mountains. You’ll soak with locals at the Secret Lagoon and end our epic winter adventure in the new, swanky Sky Lagoon.
Sound exciting? You’ll also be with a local and an Explorer Chick Guide who will be planning your adventure day by day to take advantage of the weather and the daylight. Hey, it’s a road trip where we call the shots! No rigid schedule, but a trip that flexes and flows so you get the best vacation. Your weekend has been carefully curated and “in the field” tested by your Explorer Chick team! We’ve spent YEARS playing in this outdoor mecca in the desert. You’ll squeeze in some serious ground over the course of a long weekend working on those hiker booty gains.
Explore six arches in one hiking trail to discover the namesake of Arches National Park. Witness the power of wind as you trek among iconic red rock formations where over 2,000 arches have been documented. Descend down layers of red, pink, brown, and white sandstone to enjoy a well-earned lunch on the White Rim of the Colorado River.
Wander through red rock slot canyons, among sandstone hoodoos, and across wind-eroded plains in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. Feel like you’re on a desert planet as you admire the vast and desolately beautiful landscapes.
Catch an unforgettable sunrise at Deadhorse Point State Park as you sip your coffee and munch on your breakfast. Next, gear up and hit the trail in Canyonlands to conquer the steepest trail in the park. (You’ve got this!)
You better believe we wouldn’t let you miss this! Your reward after a brief hike? One of the most famous geological structures in the world. Gaze in awe at some of Mama Nature’s best work before taking your turn to pose in the photo op sweet spot.
Every day, expect to be challenged by a new trail, and a new horizon, and new friends. Your thighs will sing every day as you walk a new hiking trail, admire a new desert horizon, and conquer a new national park!
Your heart will swoon every night as you kick off your dusty hiking boots, share bad jokes, and enjoy fresh-made meals in the Explorer Chick lodging. We’ll enjoy the occasional meal out and even squeeze in some time for you to meander and shop in the funky town of Moab. Your weekend of epic Moab hikes begins with an easy rendezvous at a Salt Lake City airport hotel—we take care of all the transportation from there!
