Join me for a walk along the beautiful Yarra Trail from the Abbotsford Convent to Dights Falls and beyond, followed by brunch at The Convent Bakery and exploring the Abbotsford Convent and grounds. The Yarra Trail features remnant native vegetation, beautiful river red gums and lovely views of the Yarra river. The Abbotsford Convent is located 4km from Melbourne's CBD and features 11 magnificent historic buildings and an abundance of open green space and gardens. It is an extraordinary place and an important arts, educational and cultural precinct.
Agenda
We will meet at the front entrance of the Abbotsford Convent on St Heliers Street at 10.00am. From there we will walk along the Yarra Trail to Dights Falls, Merri Creek and beyond. On our return we will walk past the Collingwood Children's farm and through the gardens to the Convent Bakery where we can enjoy brunch. The Convent Bakery offers a full lunch menu as well as a wide variety of rustic sandwiches, pastries, pies, croissants, quiches, tarts and cookies. They serve certified Fair Trade and Organic single origin coffee roasted in house. After brunch we will explore the fascinating Abbotsford Convent buildings and the stunning grounds.
