Nature Walk along the Yarra Trail & Coffee/Lunch @ Abbotsford Convent Bakery
Details
Join me for a nature walk along the Yarra Trail from the historic Abbotsford Convent to Kane's Bridge and back, followed by coffee and lunch at the Convent Bakery. This inner-city environment and walk is abundant with native wildlife and vegetation and there are several cultural and historical sites along the way to discover and learn about.
We will begin this outdoor adventure walking along the beautiful Yarra River to Dight Falls, a natural cascade in the river converted into a weir in the 1840s. The path then winds through the Koori Gardens and crosses the Merri Creek as it flows into the Yarra River.
From there we will make our way to Deep Rock Historical Swimming Hole stopping to enjoy the river views at the Galatea Lookout. Once we reach the heritage listed Kane's Bridge we will make our way back to the Abbotsford Convent.
We will walk beside the Collingwood Children's Farm before strolling through the gorgeous gardens surrounding the Abbotsford Convent's historical buildings and finishing up at the Convent Bakery for a coffee, lunch and conversation together.
This is an easy walk and the distance all up will be 7km and take us around 1hr 45mins. We will walk at a moderate pace with stops along the way to enjoy the scenery and points of interest.
