A circular hike from Aigra Nova.
Details
Aigra Nova, it's one of the reasons I moved to Portugal. I especially enjoy it in the winter, when prolonged rain tricks me into thinking I live in Scotland.
The secluded village up in the Lousã Mountains is where we'll start the hike, let's not rush, give four hours in the nature. There is a local gift shop with cake and coffee that we can visit before we'll start the walk, and preferably after (for a second cake).
It's a circular, eight-kilometers-long walk on the steep terrain, so bring snacks and good shoes. We'll walk through two Xisto villages: Aigra Velha and Pena. Both are secluded with open mountain views, calm, and eerie atmosphere. And between, pine and eucalyptus forest, a beautiful stream, and rocky crags.
It's a dog and kid (8+) friendly walk.
