Join us for a festive evening at Oceana Theatre to experience the Grand Kyiv Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker! We’ll gather at 4:30 PM so everyone has time to arrive, find seats, and get settled before the 5:00 PM curtain.

Attendees should purchase their own tickets in advance. Prices start at $50 (including fees). I purchased house right mezzanine seats, one seat in row FF for myself.

🎄 What We’re Seeing: The Story of The Nutcracker
The Nutcracker is one of the world’s most beloved holiday ballets. The story follows Clara, a young girl who receives a wooden nutcracker from her mysterious godfather, Drosselmeyer, at a lively Christmas Eve party. Later that night, Clara discovers that the nutcracker has come to life—and soon finds herself caught in a fantastical battle between toy soldiers and the fearsome Mouse King.

After Clara helps the Nutcracker achieve victory, he transforms into a prince and takes her on a magical journey. They pass through the sparkling Snow Forest and arrive in the Kingdom of Sweets, where the Sugar Plum Fairy hosts a joyous celebration in Clara’s honor. Dancers from around the world perform delightful variations like Spanish chocolate, Arabian coffee, Chinese tea, and Russian candy canes.
In many versions, Clara awakens at home, leaving the audience to wonder whether the adventure was real or a dream.

The ballet is based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s 1816 tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, later adapted into a more family-friendly version by Alexandre Dumas père. The production features the iconic music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and choreography derived from the original work of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
