Here’s a relaxed meetup plan from Penn Station to the Princeton University Art Museum starting around 10:00 AM.

Outbound trip

  • Meet inside Penn Station around 9:45–10:00 AM near the NJ Transit departure boards.
  • Ride to Princeton Junction Station (10:16 AM departure
    Northeast Corridor #7833 arrival ~11:30 AM).
  • Transfer to the “Dinky” shuttle train toward Princeton.
  • Get off at Princeton Station, which is a short walk from campus and the museum. Weekend shuttle service runs regularly.

11:45 AM — Walk through campus

Take a casual walk through:

  • Nassau Street
  • FitzRandolph Gate
  • Cannon Green
  • the arts neighborhood around the museum

The Princeton campus is especially nice on weekends when it’s quieter.

12:15 PM — Visit the museum

Spend 1.5–2 hours exploring the Princeton University Art Museum. The museum reopened recently in a new building and is designed for open public access.
Current exhibitions include:

  • “Willem de Kooning: The Breakthrough Years, 1945–50”

Focused on the years when de Kooning was developing the style that made him central to Abstract Expressionism. The show highlights the tension between abstraction and the human figure in his early work.

  • “Photography as a Way of Life”

Featuring Minor White, Aaron Siskind, and Harry Callahan, this exhibition explores how mid-century photographers shaped photography as both art practice and philosophy.

  • “Toshiko Takaezu: Dialogues in Clay”

A major ceramic exhibition centered on Takaezu’s sculptural closed-form vessels and meditative approach to clay.

  • “What Photographs Look Like”

A visually experimental photography exhibition examining texture, process, and the physicality of photographic images.

If you still have energy afterward, you can also stop by Art@Bainbridge on Nassau Street for additional contemporary programming connected to the museum.
