Let's check out this hidden gem in the Lincoln Square area near Horner Park. It is a newer restaurant that opened about 1 year ago. If you love Filipino cuisine, homestyle cooking, BYOB and a relaxed atmosphere, then this spot is for you! It is BYOB so bring beer or wine to go with your scrumptious dinner!

Now due to the type of venue and that I have to give a credit card to hold our reservation, I am charging a deposit for this event.

NOTE THAT THIS EVENT REQUIRES A $3 FEE AS I ONLY WANT PEOPLE WHO ARE 100% COMMITTED TO ATTEND THESE LIMITED SPACE EVENTS. THIS IS TO LIMIT NO SHOWS AND LAST-MINUTE CANCELLATIONS. I GO THROUGH A LOT OF WORK & RESEARCH TO BOOK THESE SPOTS! PLUS, I HAD TO GIVE A CREDIT CARD TO HOLD RESERVATIONS. Therefore, I'll implement additional fees at some of the finer dining establishments, so please understand. This fee is non-refundable.

YOU'LL NEED PAYPAL/CREDIT CARD TO PAY $3 FEE ON MEETUP IN ORDER TO RSVP FOR THIS EVENT. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PAYPAL, DO NOT WORRY, AS YOU CAN STILL PAY ON MEETUP! JUST CLICK THROUGH THE LINK AND STATE "NO PAYPAL/GUEST" AND GO THRU AS GUEST CHECKOUT ON PAYPAL. IT WILL TAKE YOUR CREDIT CARD AS A 1 TIME EVENT BUT WILL NOT SAVE ANY INFO. IF THAT IS TOO CONFUSING, THEN SEND ME A MESSAGE. OTHER OPTIONS ARE VIA VENMO, ZELLE OR CASH IN PERSON. Zelle is under Giovina Romandine at (312)835-4259. Venmo is under giovinaro@hotmail.com or @giovinaro. Message me if you have any ? I will manually mark you as paid. With these paid events, there is no waitlist online allowed.

DINNER & BYOB - only 4 people per table. I have 4 reservations of 4 people each so this will have to be 4 small groups (4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 16 ppl). We might be not be able to sit near each other but we will try to be in the same area if possible

If you are joining us for dinner, PLEASE BRING CASH AS THEY CANNOT DO SEPARATE CHECKS FOR GROUPS. I kindly ask that everyone take what you ordered (the total dollar amount) & add 32% to that amount, which includes 12% for Chicago taxes and 20% for tip. A bunch of credit cards will not work, since we are a large group. CASH is easier & quicker!

Sometimes you just want to have some great food without hassle in a nice setting. This is what Boonie's delivers. Best Filipino food in Chicago!!! Chef Joseph truly knows the Filipino flavors and stayed true to these flavors.

Fontelera’s take on Filipino cuisine draws on both his family and his chef roots (he most recently worked at sushi spot Arami). In 2020, he developed Boonie Foods, first as a pop-up, then at Revival Food Hall, where he served rice plates and tacos. But this BYOB brick-and-mortar spot, which opened in February, is what he always envisioned: “I focus on how you would eat these dishes if your parents or grandmother made them for you.”

The menu includes items he ate as a child, like crackly lumpia, sinigang (tomato-tamarind soup with trout), and links of garlicky Vigan longganisa. Also, fruit: The meal ends with a complimentary dish, like green grapes compressed with lychee juice. “Growing up, fruit was a way my family displayed affection,” he says. And so it’s a gesture he extends to diners, a reminder that you’re at Fontelera’s place

VENUE IS BYOB SO BRING YOUR FAVORITE WINE OR BEER TO ENJOY WITH THE MEAL. NO CORKAGE FEE!
