🏭 ABOUT THE VENUE — THE SALT SHED
One of Chicago’s most unique venues: The Salt Shed.
Originally built in the 1920s as a Morton Salt warehouse, this massive industrial building along the Chicago River handled salt storage and distribution for decades—famously marked by the iconic “Morton Salt” sign.
After closing in 2015, the site was transformed into a state-of-the-art music and event venue, reopening in 2022 while preserving its historic bones.
Today it features:
- 🎶 The Shed — huge indoor concert hall with industrial character
- 🌆 The Fairgrounds — outdoor riverside event space
- 🍸 Three Top Lounge — rooftop cocktails + skyline views
- 🎮 Elston Electric — bar/arcade in the former boiler room
It’s one of the best examples of Chicago reusing its industrial past into something vibrant and social.
